Music Video Competition - Official Rules
All submissions must be turned into CAT at our Downtown Community Media Center by 5:30 pm. on Tuesday, September 1st, 2015. If your film has Harbor-Hour content (curse words, offensive content, etc.), please indicate this on your submission form.
Teams are welcome to take part in the discounted classes. We have classes scheduled regularly throughout the month. There is some opportunity to request specially scheduled classes for participants in the Video Vanguard: Music Video Competition. Scheduling of these classes will be based on CAT staffing and the current CAT calendar. (The further ahead you schedule these classes, the easier it will be to ensure your dates).
All music videos must contain original art. No copyrighted material will be accepted without the consent of the original composer. Videos must not exceed 5 minutes in length.
Videos must be delivered as a .mov file. All entries must be labeled with band name and video title. Files can be delivered on a hard drive, flash drive, SD card or on a DVD.
All music videos will be uploaded to CAT-TV’s website on Sept 2nd, 2015. Each video will be linked to a Paypal Donate button. Every dollar donated will count as a vote towards the band associated with the video. This voting will decide the winners of The People's Choice award, which will be announced on Sept. 20, 2015 at Rose Music Hall.
Online voting will end at 5:00 PM CT on September 12, 2015. Late submissions will not be accepted. The top 4 voted bands will be announced and will receive stage time at Rose Music Hall on September 20th, 2015. Stage time for the September 20th event will be randomly selected.
Videos will be screened in a random order, starting with the Youth entries by a panel of judges. Judges will decide first, second and third prize awards for The Critics Choice Award, which will also be announced at Rose Music Hall on September 20th, 2015.
Filmmakers are responsible for providing objects, costumes, cameras, and other equipment. CAT equipment will be available as usual, first come, first served to members.
Note on EQUIPMENT: A limited amount of production and editing equipment is available for CAT-TV members. Be sure to sign up early if you plan to use this equipment.
NOTE on SCREENING CONTENT: CAT is a public access channel and does not censor what people create or what airs on the channel. That said, CAT would like to encourage participants of all ages to take part in the contest. CAT will screen the Youth screenings first, since the films that screen afterwards might not fall within “G” and “PG” ratings.
